Flower Power

The shops are adorned with flowers and I have to admit I am really liking this trend, not being very feminine I have actually surprised myself!

I love the full print of the flowers on this Ted Baker dress, the colours are just stunning and will look fab in the spring and summer sun.

Another Ted Baker creation, this time due to the pleats and the tones the flowers are more subtle but o'h so feminine. I just love the chiffon bell sleeeves

Even the tankini has come out in support of the floral trend, the one pictured is from
John Lewis and is their own brand. I can see this one sitting up at a poolside bar, can't you?

Even if your not a girly girl you can wear this floral trend. Wear it bold or wear it just to inject your modern twist.

Summer is coming...soon

When the rain is coming down and the sky is grey I felt myself smiling when I saw these gorgeous pieces today ( I'm sure some shoppers thought I had lost the plot! )

This is just a small selection of pieces that are in all our stores but it will give you an idea of the choices you have.

Yellow is a massive colour this season, add to any outfit to inject a shot of colour

Let's go for a print, the beautiful butterfly is adorning our rails. This high break chiffon shirt is stunning and I have to admit it was my purchase of the day. Shame you can't see the back as it swings.

Anyone fancy an ice cream...colour. This pretty colours are here for this season and are truly feminine and look lovely together or added to a white for a soft look

A Nation of bad dressers

Vivienne Westwood, the iconic fashion designer has come out and said we are a Nation of bad dressers: Everyone looks the same and their clothes have never been so ugly, says Vivienne Westwood

Vivienne, as we all know is an artistic designer whose creations are not for the faint hearted nor her own personal style.
She goes on to say that with the high street and the disposable fashion industry we now have that we are losing our sense of individuality and identity.

In some ways I can see what she is saying but I am also a firm believer that with the wonderful high street that we have we are able to create our own look in a cost effective way and/or to suit our budget. I know, from the clients that I see and from myself personally that we do end up stuck down the end of a style road and don't know which way to turn. I think, this is just because life becomes so busy we do lose some of our indentity.

I do know that what you wear has a massive bearing on both your personality and lifestyle and more importantly in how you feel and I dont think Dame Vivienne is bearing that in mind.

So, ladies, are we really worrying about this outspoken comment........I think I can hear a resounding NO. All I would ask is that you don't panic about what's in the high street and what the trends are doing.

My tip is to spend time ( and it doesn't have to be alot ) wandering around the stores, look at the colours and the styles, what you will start to see is that all the high street stores are carrying the same colours, styles and shapes, they just twist them to suit their own customer base.
Be brave and try on something new this season, it's amazing how great you will feel when you look in that mirror.

I'm loving SS12

It's mid week and half term is going well. Whilst I had 5 minutes today I was thinking about how the trends are being seen in our stores and I was surprised by how many there actually are....they really is something for everyone to love.

I found these great items which represent a few of the trends beautifully;

I surprised myself in falling in love with this dress, the return of the feminine lady oozes this season
This dress from Very, it is all about the shape of the woman's body

This frilled animal print blouse rolls 2 trends into 1,the return of the blouse and the animals as the main print. Add this stunning ice cream peach colour to an indigo jean and you will look amazing.
Great colour combo

This fringed detailed bolero represents the 1920's and the fringing so well. For me, it also adds a new texture & added dimension to the garment, from Very . If you were feeling brave you could add this over a shift dress like the one below to incorporate the ages ( 1920's and 1960's )

The black and white shift dress from the 1960's is back, it is such a simple design line with an amazing statement. You can add in a belt to accentuate the waist, pop a coloured shoe to inject your personality.
You could wear this dress from New Look every day for a week and make it look so different each day, I think I may have set myself a challenge!!!

There are lots more trends this season, I'll post more in the next couple of days

Aaahhh Valentines!

Valentines day in my family has always been quite a big thing, I suppose it all started with my mother who sends cards to us all not just my dad!! All my children and even the dog gets their own card!!!

I do believe that you shouldn't have to wait until Valentines Day to tell someone you love them but I do rather like the excuse to buy little goodies for my family and I do rather like the excuse to make the extra effort to dress up for a meal with hubby whether we be at home or going out.

So, I have found some little treasures which I think you may like to;

Lace dress from French Connection, teamed with hessian platforms from Dune, this combination is so sexy.

Lovely car print skirt and contrast yellow necktie shirt both front Primark, I am really loving these.

My love affair with Missoni continues and I was thrilled to find this zig zag dress in Primark, add some brown or black opaques and wear it with knee high boots or if you feel more comfortable pop it over some leggings.

Cape dress from Very, wear on it's own with opaques or why not wear over a pair of skinnies

Wednesday 8 February 2012

The affair is over, I've cheated!

Well......just when I thought it was safe to go out on my own to the shops, I walked into Primark today to be met with an abundance of goodies ranging from dresses, shirts, tunics, bags, scarves, jumpers and so much more.
I was given a very strange look by a member of staff as I think I may have been hyperventilating, here's what I found

This beautiful dress with chiffon sleeves with the most amazing beaded collar is just gorgeous

If you are looking for a litle shirt with a peter pan lace collar and cuffs this will suit you perfectly, the sleeves are chiffon and the main body is of jersey material

Vests are always quite tricky to find but I can highly recommend these, they are so soft, they have no seams and they are loaded with lycra so they will hold their shape and they come in so many colours.

And to accessorise I found this gorgeous chestnut shopper bag. I have already tried this out, it fits my Ipad, purse, filofax, phone and loads more
It is a great base neutral colour which will go with so many garments this season

And this was my all time favourite for casual look with jeans, This jumper has the most stunning gold zip in the back. I added in this pink skull scarf which is a real must have print this season.
I wore this to my childrens dance performance this afternoon and it turned some heads!

Mix & Match

There are days when I'm in the shops you can hear me say 'Wow' as I'm perusing through the rails.
It is not an unknown fact that I love Mint Velvet, its just the fact that they are a little bit quirky and their muted tones are so easy to mix & match with your existing wardrobe.

This very nice beige holed biker jacket is perfect for the turn of this season into the new Spring/Summer season. Being a beige colour it will mix & match with an array of colours. You can dress this jacket up or down so it can work with your wardrobe.

This gorgeous dress is perfect for those up and coming summer months but also great to be worn now with opaques, brown boots and the beige holed leather jacket pictured above. How pretty is this?

Now, if you love Missoni then you will love this zig zag dress, it is below the knee and the fabric is to die for. The picture doesn't really do the colour justice, it is a beautiful mint green, peach and brown. Again team it with the beige holed leather jacket to finish off a stunning look.

Mint Velvet can be found in most House of Fraser's and in their own stand alone stores around the country.

Loving Zara!

I just love mooching around the shops and today whilst shopping with my good friend Gillian of Fabulous jewellery I came across these beautiful pieces in Zara

This beautiful floral chiffon dress caught my eye and just shouted out 'buy me', you could team this with either a pair of wedges or the 2 tone platforms that are huge this season. I had my eye on a nude pair with a red platform......simply stunning.

Then as I turned around I was met by this beautiful pleated asymetrical skirt which I fell in love with. I just want to add a pair of black opaques, patent platforms and a chiffon black shirt to do this skirt style justice

As I was walking out I came across this waisted cream dress which looked so pretty with the lace peter pan collar, another 'must have' this season.

There were lots more stnning pieces but don't take my word for it, pop in and have a look for yourself. I do think you'll like!

lots of love
